GAP Connah's Quay FC earned a valuable point in the Cymru Premier title race with a goalless draw away to leaders The New Saints on Saturday. The result extends their unbeaten league run to five matches and keeps them second in the table, six points behind their opponents. They are second in the Premier League with 34 points from 14 games, a record of 11 wins, one draw and two losses.
The first half saw few clear chances, with the hosts' Williams and the Nomads' Ferguson both receiving yellow cards before the break. The second period followed a similar pattern, with both managers making multiple substitutions in search of a breakthrough.
Despite the changes and further bookings for Cowan and several Saints players, neither side could find a winning goal.
The point solidifies Connah's Quay's strong position. They have 34 points from 14 games, with a goal difference of +23 built on 32 goals scored and only nine conceded. Their recent form of four wins and a draw from the last five games, including victories over Llandudno and Porthmadog, has been key to their title challenge. This unbeaten sequence includes a 2-0 win over Llandudno on Saturday 24 October, with goals from C. West and H. Franklin, and a 4-0 victory against Porthmadog on Friday 16 October.
Attention now turns to their next fixture, a home game against Flint Town United on Friday, 6 November. Flint currently sit 13th in the standings, and the Nomads will be confident after a 2-1 away win against them earlier in the season. The match at the Essity Stadium kicks off at 8pm.
