GAP Connah S Quay FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 away win at Briton Ferry on Friday. Second-half goals from Jordan Hodkin and Michael Woodcock turned the game around after the hosts had taken an early lead.
The victory extends the Nomads' winning streak to five matches across all competitions. It also stays in the standings, where they sit second with 31 points from 13 games, just six points behind leaders The New Saints.
Briton Ferry started brightly and were awarded a penalty after just six minutes. Tom Walters stepped up but saw his spot-kick saved, a let-off for the visitors. Walters made amends later, however, opening the scoring in the 33rd minute.
Manager John Disney made a decisive double change at halftime, introducing Woodcock and Frankie Deane. The substitutions paid off within minutes. Hodkin equalised in the 58th minute, and Woodcock completed the turnaround just five minutes later, firing home the winner.
Briton Ferry's frustration grew as the match progressed, with the home side picking up four yellow cards. GAP Connah S Quay FC managed the game well in the closing stages to see out the three points.
The team now turns its attention to the Welsh Cup. They host Porthmadog at the Essity Stadium this Friday, 16 October, with kick-off at 7:45pm. After that, a massive league clash away to The New Saints awaits on 31 October.
