GAP Connah S Quay FC manager John Disney says his team face a difficult task when they travel to Colwyn Bay this weekend. The fixture comes just days after the Nomads suffered a 2-1 defeat to the same opponents in midweek.

Disney made the comments in a preview of the upcoming Cymru Premier clash. "Colwyn Bay’s going to be a really difficult task, quarter past five next Saturday," he said. The manager's focus is on a quick response after a frustrating result.

Recent form and context

The Nomads currently sit fifth in the league table with 16 points from eight matches. Their recent form shows three wins, one draw, and one loss from the last five outings. That single defeat was the 2-1 reverse at Colwyn Bay on September 12, where Callum West's early penalty was overturned by second-half goals from the hosts.

Before that, GAP Connah S Quay FC had been on a strong run. They fought back to draw 1-1 with Haverfordwest County on September 4, with Max Woodcock scoring a second-half equaliser. That result ended a five-match winning streak in the league, which had included victories over Flint Town United, Cambrian & Clydach, Ammanford, and Trefelin.

The Colwyn Bay challenge

Disney is well aware of the threat posed by Colwyn Bay, who are managed by Michael Wilde and Danny Harrison. The Nomads drew both of their visits to Colwyn Bay last season, underlining the venue's difficulty. Wilde himself expressed dissatisfaction after his team's recent performances, stating, "It’s very hard to come off and say we’re happy, because we are certainly not happy."

The Nomads have scored 19 goals this season while conceding only seven, giving them a healthy goal difference of +12. They remain six points behind league leaders The New Saints, whom they face in their next league fixture on October 31. Fans can check the full schedule on the club's fixtures page and see the latest standings.

With the first team in action, the club's reserves are also scheduled to play Airbus in the FAW Reserves North League on the same day. The Nomads' immediate focus, however, is solely on securing a positive result at Colwyn Bay to get their promotion push back on track.
